We spent two nights in this property, it is the third time we have stayed here over a ten year period , even though the hotel is only 4 star it does not disappoint , checking is efficient and friendly as is the baggage and valet park …
Very relaxing stay: the sympathy and availability of the staff, the sea, the Spa, these points were really perfect.
On the other hand, the hotel highlights "sustainability", "local", "organic" without this being the case. For example, the breakfast eggs are code "3" (16 chickens per 1m²) and the dive staff advised me to give some bread to bring in the fish when I dive...
I agree with other opinions, the food can be greatly improved given the culinary richness of the region
Thank you to all the staff (reception, Spa and servers), to the yoga teacher, it was great!
Beautiful resort and a phenomenal beach. The rooms are pretty nice and well furnished and equipped. Certain services could use some help especially breakfast service in the morning. If you are noisy and waving your hands, the waiter may notice you. Once you order a hot drink, expect to wait for it for another 20 minutes since they have only one barista. And that's unacceptable in a claimed 5 star hotel.
This resort is simply fantastic. If you wish to disconnect from the world for a while, if you wish to spend some time near glorious, most beautiful water, while experiencing polished and friendly service, then come stay here.
The facility itself is located right on the water, so there is only a short walk from your room to the pool or the beach. The hotel is shaped like the letter “S” with some rooms facing the sea and some facing the garden. This is a huge property with tennis courts, two restaurants, a large pool, an enormous spa, gym, car parks, etc.
I’d be remiss if I did not mention how polished and friendly the service was. Most excellent.
The breakfast was fabulous with hot and cold choices and everything in-between.
Lunch could be had at the beach-side bar/restaurant and the menu was static. Food was excellent, albeit a bit on a pricier side. If you have a car, you could go to any one of many local restaurants a short drive away.
Dinner was served at the main restaurant and some dishes were spot on and some were a bit of a miss. Overall, the food was about 3 out of 5 (we have accumulated a substantial sample size across Italy).
The rooms (and the whole facility) were super clean. The beach was wonderful. You could get a kayak and row to Capo Vaticano itself. You could watch sunset while having an aperitivo. You could go to Tropea. You could do a boat tour. Or you could veg at the beach.
Overall, we had a blast and will definitely return. ❤️❤️❤️
As an American I would compare this to Marriot Harbor beach FL or any large Miami resorts, obviously more relaxed vibe. It is beautiful, water is clear and turquoise, but might need beach shoes because of little pebbles. Just know that …
PROS:
- true luxury amenities/ comforts.
- great peaceful location private beach away from the crowds of Tropea.
- A/C & rainfall shower was amazing during the heatwave.
- Spa was so luxurious, relaxing and healing.
- Courtesy, helpfulness friendliness of staff was appreciated.
- Matineo breakfast had good variety / quality of choices.
- Strombolichio was memorable and so romantic with live music and watching the sunset by infinity pool.
CONS:
- Very uptight about rules in general.
- Cheap with bottled water even during 100*+ weather.
- Matineo dinner was frustrating/ limited in variety of choices; chef was not 4-star level.
- If you wanted that culinary level you had to pay extra for Strombolichio…which was slightly annoying but worth it.
- There were structural safety issues with the property: several lawsuits waiting to happen: no railing in the pool; people kept slipping.
- My mother fell due to a faulty / broken step, anagement not only did nothing to apologize for the conflict they caused, they refused to take responsibility. In Italy, customer is always wrong, even when theyre right.
Maybe the best hotel in this area. Clean, comfortable and good service. The spa is very nice as well!
Recommended!
Definitely the worst hotel I've ever been to. We paid for sea view rooms and got the worst ones where the air conditioning doesn't work. The staff was great but everything else is definitely not worth the money. I definitely don't recommend it.
